GreyWing [text] Project

A concert on recent local and international works exploring  [text]. Although the “text-score” is a well established genre, we chose to specifically concentrate on works that focus on “text in music”, “text as music” or/and “text as sound”. 
A range of works in this genre were curated exploring text in texts of semi-dramatic interplay, the surreal possibilities of observation, declamation and gesticulation, memory and anticipation, constraint and poetic qualities.
New works were created by mercurial Paris/Perth performance artist Emmanuelle Zagoria, moving to the other side of you in which text drives, diverts and decays the musical narrative and Lindsay Vickery
​t o r b u a m m p a - music defined by placing the words from Obama and Trump’s inaugural speeches in alphabetical order. An autonomous face-mounted amplified speaker system was built for van Eck’s work.
